DocuGrab

Let's suppose that you have numerous text files stored on your computer and you would like to find a text file that contains a certain word or phrase. Using Windows alone in this case will not help you out, as the operating system cannot look for text inside files. So the only solution left is to turn to 3rd party programs for searching words inside files. One such program is DocuGrab. This simple Windows application allows one to quickly look for any piece of text inside all the text files stored on the hard disk.

It's a Windows application which is compatible with any version of this operating system, being easy to install and use. When running the program for the first time, it will automatically index all the text files found on the computer. Doing so will allow the user to get real-time results when searching for a certain word or phrase. The user can select which folders he would like the program to index. By default, the My Documents folder is used. When the indexing process is complete, one can start looking for any keyword or text phrase, by entering it in the search bar. Every keyword entered will be automatically looked up and the program will display the number of times the word is found inside all the indexed text files. All the files that contain the word will be automatically displayed in a list, and the keyword will be highlighted inside every text file, for allowing the user to spot it more quickly.

Besides displaying all the files that contain a certain word, DocuGrab can also display all the folders containing those files, allowing the user to organize them by name or by date. Using the options section of the program, the user can choose which folders will be scanned for text files and what files should be scanned for words or phrases. DocuGrabi supports TXT, DOC, DOCX and PDF files. Besides that, a text file containing a certain keyword can be printed or saved as a copy anywhere on the hard disk.
